Creation of a workshop with the help of “Coudre Sans Frontières”

At the end of the course, the seamstresses organised a large fashion show, proud to present their creations. However, the problem of how to become professional and independent remains. It is difficult, if not impossible, to work from home, as in many other African countries. Miara therefore decided to set up a workshop, with the help of Coudre Sans Frontières, where they can come and work in complete safety. To expand their opportunities, Lucrezia Hausmann had the idea of specialising a number of the seamstresses in wedding dresses, which are in high demand (Madagascar is a very young country and it takes at least 14 hours of transport to get hold of them). This training is currently underway. French lessons are also proving very successful, as they provide good access to employment and education for the seamstresses themselves and their children, to whom they pass on their knowledge.
